Tunisia is a beautiful country, with many lovely people. Many British tourists visit Tunisia every year for the sunshine and the beaches, but there is a lot more to the country than summer sunshine. We travel to the heart of the country, an area visited mainly by back-packers and 4x4 drivers that go for the scenery and to meet the people that live in the towns and villages those who live in the areas that have not developed as the rich tourist areas have. These people still live the simple life, they still herd goats and sheep, the children do go to school and they live in simple houses. Many houses have only cold running water, hot water has to be heated in a pot over the fire, sanitation is basic, but adequate, and daily life is very much preparing for the next day. None of the people that I know from these areas class themselves as poor, they are very pleased with what they have.
