Rustoleum is similar to Hammerite, in fact they use the same thinners, the reason that I use Rustoleum is that I bought it a couple of years ago when the company that I worked for used Brewers as their paint supplier and this was the paint that they recommended for painting directly onto metal, you can also buy a thinner for spray painting with it and at that time I had access to a compressor and spray gun. Why black? Because that is the colour that I have, when that is all gone I may buy another colour, we’ll see. Same with the Jenolite, I don’t know if it is as good as the others, or better maybe, but it seems to do what it is supposed to so why pay more. |

All of the seat belt mountings have been removed, cleaned, checked and re-fitted, the headlining has also been removed and scrubbed with a nail brush along with the sun visors,so apart from a few finishing touches, such as installing CB, etc, the cab area is just about complete. Still leaves a lot to do though, it is a big vehicle. |

worked and the shaft turned but the winch drum didn’t. Once home, I was able to dismantle the drive and establish the cause. At some stage the woodruff key had failed so someone had tack welded the end of the shaft into the universal joint, the weld had now broken causing the shaft to just spin. I removed the shaft, bearings and uj’s and took the shaft to a local machine shop to have it assessed. The key-way was damaged and the shaft was worn so I decided to have a new shaft made, I ordered the bearings and new uj, to replace one that was completely shot, at a cost of about £100. |
